Welcome to the Mr Smelly fragrance blog!
This is my first post on this blog. I'm hoping to offer a different type of fragrance review here fom what I do on my YouTube channel MrSmelly1977. This will be a quickie just to test that it works! My fragrance today is XS Extreme from Paco Rabanne. This year 2000 release from perfumers Rosendo Mateu and Gerard Anthony has the following notes:
Top: Petitgrain, mint and bergamot
Mid: Juniper, watermelon, rose, brazilian rosewood
Base: Leather, musk, oakmoss and cedar.
My tester bottle also mentions juniper, teak wood and amber on the back.
Long discontinued and now quite rare but without the reputation of holy grail scents such as D&G By Man or Jean Patou Pour Homme this one is something of a forgotten gem in my opinion.
A sparkling citrus top is underpinned by a warm spicy herbaceous core with a vibrant masculine woody undercurrent making this an invigorating and motivating aroma. It is somewhat similar to the regular XS but more citric and fresh and perhaps even more similar to Creed's Himalya which the original XS is often likened to. Performance is above average and the fragrance is very versatile and rather more interesting than recent releases from Paco Rabanne. I was fortunate to find it in a local chemist for £16.99 for 50ml and was allowed to take the 100ml tester as well.
